These gems are from a shoot I did with Briauna, a professional model, and for my first time ever, Maggie, a professional make up artist. Normally, I’d be like, YES! ANOTHER SHOOT! And trust me, I was.
BIG BUT THOUGH.
I was hella nervous. Briauna resides on the east coast normally, and I had never met her before the shoot. We had been chatting on Model Mayhem for a while now but this woman’s portfolio, I feel, is way more advanced than mine. Most of my portfolio is made up of creative photo shoot ideas that I have come up with and beautiful friends wiling to let me take their photos. That doesn’t make the photos any less because they are not professionals, aside from one friend who does modeling as a side gig, I don’t have any experience with professional models, make up artists, or hair specialists.
ALSO! Maggie, wonderful and sassy Make Up Artist Maggie. I have never worked with a professional make up artist on my shoots before. I was concerned that I wouldn’t have any say or that my vision wouldn’t be seen. Maggie was amazing! She listened and was spot on with the shoot theme. She knew Briauna previously, so they had a working relationship already. Maggie stuck around the entire shoot, which was helpful and she was so eager and willing to assist with anything.
I, of course, was a bit of a hot mess. I was nervous, because I hadn’t met either of them. I didn’t know what the model expected from me. In an attempt to be casual and cool, I tried chatting to get to know both of them but I felt like I talked too much (almost like word vomit), thus making me less cool. I rather enjoyed the process though, because I didn’t have to give much direction and Briauna knew what worked for her (angles, poses, etc). Although we were limited to two outfits (and spots) because of the setting sun, the photos we created were beautiful! And now, I shall share them with you!

All in all, I am really really pleased with these photos. Especially with the close ups, since I ventured into the realm of using my 55-200 mm lens instead of just sticking with my 18-55 mm lens. I had a wonderful experience working with Briauna and Maggie, even if I was a bit of a cottonheaded ninnymuggins.
