As you may know, I am a slut for space. I freaking love pictures of space, movies about space, reading about space. I’m not an expert on any level but it is just one thing that I love wholly and completely. This movie happens to take place in space with a gang of misfits that have clearly become a family.
Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol 2 was written and directed by James Gunn. He directed and wrote Slither (2006), Super (2010), and Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) as well. This film stars Chris Pratt (Peter Quill/Starlord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax), Vin Diesel (Groot), Bradley Cooper (Rocket). It also stars Michael Rooker (Yondu), Karen Gillen (Nebula), Pom Klemtinoff (Mantis), Kurt Russell (Ego) and Elizabeth Debicki (Ayesha).
Vol 2 centers around Starlord and his real family reaching out to him. The gang manages to piss off the Ravagers and the Sovereign because of something one of the gang steals. Some of the Guardians are struggling with who they are versus who they used to be. There is not whole lot of mention of Infinity Stones or Thanos in this film but they did hint at them a few times.
This was a great film! I thought the cast looked good and the character development was nice but, because the majority of the characters were introduced in the first film, this second one felt a little more serious. There were some great lines, at it was obvious that Baby Groot was there to steal every scene. I didn’t like the soundtrack as much, but it was enjoyable. The extra scenes were great too, during/after the credits. It was really good though, it got you right in the feelings.
I give Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol 2 a 8/10 while Rotten Tomatoes gives it a 7.1/10. How did you feel about it? Love it/hate it — comment below!
